What is the value of suffering?

in a recent talk the speaker asked the question, "how will god destroy the wicked at armageddon?

" the first and most efficient means will be to confuse them into killing one another.

Suffering is the icing on the BS cake. If god just made us disappear you probably wouldn't be THAT afraid of armegeddon. Armegeddon has to hurt and badly. Check it, I have a knife, aimed right for your body and my arm is closing in fast. Would you cringe or guard yourself if you knew the blade was retractable?

Do I understand the JW version of resurrection???

hello, my wife is on again, off again studying with the jws.

i have done a lot of reading and research into the wts and want to see if i understand this correctly.. ok, the wts believes that jesus 'returned invisibly' in 1914 and threw satan out to the earth, and in 1975, wait 1994, soon, very soon, we are in the last days of the last days, armageddon will take place.

when this happens, faithful jws will either go to heaven, if of the anointed remnant or remain living on an earth which they will make a paradise over the next 1000 years.

And where exactly does it say in the bible that exactly 144,000 are the annointed ones? I looked in the reference at the back of the NWTotHS, I see annointed, I see ones, but no 144,000 number. Is this something else they pulled out of their ass or what? And why does god NEED and or WANT 144,000 people to rule over earthly people who have decided already that being a dub is the best thing evah?

Here's what I see: Striving to be a dub requires a black and white view of the world. Since "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one", if one was to look at something jehovah (and by jehovah I mean the efforts of the governing body/WTBTS) condemns and say "X video game, X movie, X music, or X tv show is not THAT bad" the first thing a dub would say is (all together now) "That's how satan wants you to think or feel." So you're brought into this thinking that everything out there that's not dub is part of grand diabolical scheme just so satan can take you with him when he goes. So you take that cardboard box.....shine it up real nice......turn that sombitch sideways and shove it right around your brainwashed ass. Meanwhile, you aren't doing even the most basic or normal recreational activities that doesn't involve your dub support system or thinking WWJD. Congratulations, the society has struck again. You aren't living your life in THIS world due to putting stock in the next world. And what do you get for your efforts in this new world, provided you even MAKE it to this new world? "Not everyone saying to me Lord, Lord will......" Well, the internet, games, movies, music and tv shows will all be extremely different places. And that's provided we even care to delve into such creations. Yes we supposedly will have 100% of our brain power being that we are perfect, although it seems even perfection isn't without flaws (Eve anyone?), but what will we be able to create? What will we remember but let stay in the past because of it potentially being a threat to the new system? They say we won't want to sin because everything on earth will know of jehovah, but it didn't go that way for Eve. So what happened? Anyway, you've just won an all expense paid trip to living forever, petting animals, building houses, filling the Earth with more like minded undiversified people, witnessing the resurrection of people whom you're to make like minded, making jehovah happy and........hmmm.........the story tends to end here. They always get right here and this imaginatory thought train comes to a screeching halt. Is that all I get for being boxed up? See, by only focusing on war, greed, crime, violence, hunger and famine when you turn on the news or read a newspaper, or have an initial interest in a movie, game, tv show or relationship with people regardless of the level your mind automatically retains the info that justifies your constructed belief system where there is something horribly wrong with the world. Oh and BTW, after 1000 years of this ParadOSe jehovah is gonna let satan out to play again? No thanks. Give me my "falsified happiness" now, continue lying to yourself jehovah thinking you're giving satan an answer for his "man won't serve you" debate, when all you're really doing is offing the people who DECIDED not to, which is like someone saying "I'm so hot, I can get ANYBODY up in this club" and when they don't respond to you, you write them off as being gay/les or in the gay/les case, write them of as being straight. (No letters please, just an example :) ) "Not that there's anything wrong with that...." Now I ask, if god is going to whack the people who didn't comply how is there a difference between offing Adam & Eve and starting over or offing billions of people and starting over? In fact the only real difference is the amount of time spent between the two events and the number of people killed. Keep your paradise, at least this way, I would have known some happiness before being robotisized.

why can't everyone who is on the earth at that time just make the transition and be made perfect?

since there's no satanic influence, regardless of whether the person is a witness or not, over time all that will come to be is what the witnesses teach about this new system.

The ones other than these that do take are the annointed. My question is how is one supposed to know that they are part of this 144,000? What are they doing differently than other bamboozled dubs? Also, is it just me or does the whole "Christ dying for our sins" thing reek of asininity? At the meeting they made this big stink about jerkovah feeling the pain of having to watch his only son go through what he supposedly went through. And I'm sitting there like WTF? One: From god's standpoint, since he can restore jesus to his former self there's no damage there. Two: From jesus' standpoint, he was up in heaven then "had" to come here and deal with these neanderthalic douchebags. So living 33 years, being killed, and then going back home is no big thing. Three: From my standpoint, it's like, sin entered the INSTANT Adum took of the fruit. So likewise, if jesus' death was to buy back what Adum forfeited then the INSTANT jesus died there should have been no more sin. god gave perfection, it was his rule. How does two people in conjection with one of gods rouges f*ck things up to where jesus HAS to die?

Ah but how about this: Because god put so much stock in being worshipped this led to satan paying more attention to the first pair. He gets jealous. (PAUSE god supposedly can read hearts so why didn't he do anything about this threat to the system then?) Then satan, excersizing his right to choose goes rouge and questions gods authority. (It is at this point where the tree of knowledge should come into play, because it would've made no sense for this symbol to be there beforehand) Other angels go rouge too and boom god kicks them out. They show up here like something out of a Superman II movie and trick infant Eve, who then SEDUCES infant Adum, both who were excersizing their right to choose as well. So where did all this start? Yeah, god's ego. What can possibly be gained by us worshipping him? What does he get out of it? If we choose not to for whatever reason he's to destroy us? I duuno dude that sounds a little "If I can't have you noone will" to me. You know they lock people up for that crap. So why does god have the immunity idol?

Thanks Homer.....but my uncle is not "like us see? Cause he's from outer space". He agrees that we may not be alone in the universe but when asked what would happen if the Earth should become overpopulated due to there being no death anywhere (plants, animals or humans) he says we could be whisked away to some other planet. I refuse to get into this game of "Let's See What I Can Make Up Now" with him. The sword that kept Adum & Geez out of the garden of Eden, at least his interpretation, was not a literal sword. WTF!? Every single picture I've seen EVER has always shown an actual blade spinning at the entrance. But noooooo, this sword was only an illustration. "Why couldn't they have gone back into the garden from another way?" I ask. He goes " god took the tree of life away from the garden so the place became a barren wasteland" What-ever. See...they have an answer for everything but don't understand that just because there's an answer, doesn't mean that it's right. It's like asking who the hottest girl in the world.

My elder of an uncle came to visit recently and taking note of how crappy-go-f#@ky and bored of life I seemed starts in "Why don't you want to go to the hall? What changed?" I give him the rundown of my disappointments in god, my issues with the bible, and how the religion is basically formed on the interpretations of Russell and/or Rutherford. And he goes "Write down on paper where you think the bible contradicts itself. The bible has been made in such a way that it purges itself." Now honestly, I could give a damn about locating something to bring to him, because even if I did he'd find some loophole to support his belief in it and I can't take that down. And in other news, I had a migraine headache and didn't want to go to the hall during my unc's visit and my other aunt is all "You're going with the family". Now, any other time I'm not going, but my out of town uncle comes and then it becomes necessary. Am I alone in thinking that the reason I went was more about looking a certain way to other dubs than it was receiving the MESSage? I mean, if it wasn't important that I go any other time why does my elder unc's visit have my aunt being adamant now? I just want it to be over........please.
